Planter’s Punch Cocktail

This makes two cocktails. When in season you can substitute half the Orange Juice with Blood Orange juice, and garnish with sliced Blood Orange.  This cocktail  is better when mixed individually, but if you want to serve a larger group from a punch bowl, float a single large ice block or ice ring in the bowl, and multiply the ingredients by the number of drinks needed. Mix all the ingredients well except the Soda Water. Plan for about 6 oz Soda Water per drink, and add it to the bowl just before serving. Garnish the punch bowl with floating orange slices and cherries.

Ingredients:
4 oz Dark Rum
6 oz Orange Juice
2 oz Lime Juice
2 teaspoons Granulated Sugar
Grenadine
Soda Water (unsweetened, plain or Orange Essence flavored)
Sliced Orange
Maraschino Cherries

Directions:
Fill a cocktail shaker half full of ice. Combine the Rum, Orange Juice, Lime Juice, Sugar, and 2-3 dashes of Grenadine. Shake well. Strain equally into two chilled Collins glasses. Fill to the top with Soda Water. Garnish each drink with a Maraschino Cherry and an Orange slice. Serve with a straw.
